In Common's own words: "It is music to uplift, heal, and inspire listeners dealing with racial injustices as well as other social injustices. It's affirmation. It's recognition. It's elevation. It's music to go with a movement. Because the truth is, there is still so much work to do."

Common’s history as an artist demonstrates his awareness of himself as a creative, the responsibility of an artist to reflect our times, and staying true to his vision. This EP project is a continuation of that legacy of making music with a message.

During this unprecedented time, Common has been involved in COVID fundraisers and activism, Black Lives Matter, and racial justice protests, rallies, and discussion forums. He has also launched a wellness series for mind and body, and his stressed mental health and self-love as being necessary to achieve racial justice. He most recently launched a voting initiative with Alicia Keys called U2020. And he wrote a recorded a song for the impactful new children’s show on Netflix, Bookmarks, produced by The Obamas. The song is titled “Don’t Forget Who You Are.”
